THE STUPIDITY OF HATRED!
Here is the best street level definition of hatred that I have ever heard: Hatred is Drinking Poison and Expecting Other People to Die!
As you may have noticed the political rhetoric in Washington D.C. has moved beyond partisan politics into outright hatred! While politicians have a right to disagree the level we have reached is extremely dangerous. When we start invoking impeachment of the President or calling him crazy we have reach a level of extremeness that is going to harm generations to come.
Part of the reason we are at this stage in America has to do with the failure of Christianity! We have allowed pastors to turn the pulpit into their political agendas without direct affirmation or condemnation from the Word of God. We have permitted Christians to sit in the pew rather than equipping them to be the Lord’s army invading the world with his Gospel. We have allowed Hollywood and the media to think for us rather than the Christian doing the homework on abortion, marriage, helping the poor, and confronting terrorism. As a result, we have allowed the partisan voices, the deception of many, and the outright lies of others to infect our schools, our communities and even our churches.
What do we need do to change this horrible downward spiral of America? While we cannot control tweets, the media fake stories, outright lies, or deception by anyone, we can stand up for the truth, know the facts and speak out. Instead of wanting to escape this world we confront the world with the biblical truth of Jesus Christ. Instead of becoming angry and permitting hatred to infect our hearts we need to pray for those who are doing evil and show Jesus’ love to call them out of darkness.
This may sound like nice platitudes, wishful thinking, unrealistic expectations, or Pollyanna, but in fact it biblical counsel from the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It is time to get on our knees crying out to the Lord and to stand up on our feet face to face with lies and deception. If you claim faith in Jesus Christ, then you are an Ambassador of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the mission of calling men and women to reconciliation with God the Father.
